Brushy Creek MUD Residents,
We hope this letter finds you well. As always, the District is deeply grateful for your continued support and active participation in our community. Your dedication and engagement are two examples of what exemplifies the Brushy Creek Life.
In our ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving our community, we are writing to inform you about an upcoming change. To uphold our exceptional standard of living, the Brushy Creek MUD Board of Directors has made a strategic decision to adopt two new fees to fund District facilities and services. Each of the fees are described below.
Emergency Management and Hazard Mitigation Fee:
This fee of $0.75 per month per service unit will allow the District to fund emergency response and hazard mitigation services in order to respond to catastrophic emergencies such as winter storms and related debris cleanup on District lands, as these emergencies create risks to public safety. This fee may also provide funding for designated drop-off areas for District residential tree debris removal caused by catastrophic events. An example would be the brush clean-up that occurred after the extraordinary freeze event that was Winter Storm Uri. Additionally, it would support the continued fire mitigation services in the form of maintenance of shaded fuel breaks in designated areas within the District on District lands.
Land Management and Park Maintenance Fee:
The District’s parks, trails, and greenbelts are a key component of The Brushy Creek Life and require extensive and regular maintenance to keep them in proper condition. The proposed park maintenance fee of $9.00 per month will be charged to each residential service unit. Funds collected through this fee will support rising costs related to the ongoing maintenance and operations of the District’s parks and outdoor recreational amenities, including greenbelts, tree replacements, Great Oaks Drive medians, karst features, and ADA modifications. It will also ensure that these spaces remain safe, beautiful, accessible, and clean for District residents.
The new fees will be effective on April 1, 2025 and reflected on May 2025 utility bills.
These adjustments are not merely about funding. They are investments in maintaining our infrastructure and services in order to preserve the exceptional quality of life that defines Brushy Creek. Your contributions directly enhance our community's resilience and ensure our parks and recreational amenities continue to surpass national standards.
